Dear Diary,
A few days ago, I woke up in the captivity of the Nomayed hunters. They brought me to Bolvangar, the centre of Oblation Board operations! A scientific kinda man checked me in, fed me, and put me to bed. I talked to other girls and thy said that every while, the nurses took a child, and they didn't return. I fell asleep, exhausted, with Pantalaimon in my arms.
The next day, I found Roger and Billy Costa in the eating place. We talked secretly, and I told them how the gyptians were a-comin' to save us. Oh, how happy I was! But then, my own mother, Mrs. Coulter, came in her zeppelin. I ran out into another building so she wouldn't see me. I was in a strange hall, but what was on the walls was even stranger: tens of cages sat on shelves, filled with daemons. Oh! the horror! Cause they weren't right, y'see. They were there, but they weren't, like a night-ghast.
It was then that some of the men found me. They took me to a room I hadn't seen, but I knew what they would try to do. I saw a large shiny machine and knew that it would sever Pantalaimon from me. I tried to fight, but their grips were like iron. I had lost all hope. But Mrs. Coulter swooped in and saved me. She took me far away from that dreadful place, and I cried. I guess my mom is okay.
After that I started a fire in the kitchens. I pulled the fire-bell and put on my furs. I ran out into the cold as I tried to get the other children to follow me. All of a sudden, I saw Iorek Byrnison hurtle into vision. I clambered onto his thick metal armor, and the kids followed us as he led us to the gyptian sledges. At last we were safe, or so I thought...
Cold But Safe,
Lyra
